The Belt Collection at Modern Times

The Belt Collection Coffee and Side Tables by Nicole Lawrence Studio

Narrative Goods: Craft Contemporary Festival

Collection: Belt Collection
Narrative Goods, puts the focus on 5 of Melbourne’s up-and-coming contemporary furniture designers – Nicole Lawrence, Ash Fischer (FISCH), Dean Norton, Zachary Frankel and Brigitte Owers-Buccianti (Real Non-Real). Featuring new pieces from each designer, Narrative Goods explores the possibility of functional design to inspire delight, provoke conversation and embody story. Presented as part of Craft Victoria’s Craft Contemporary Festival.
In response to this brief - Nicole created a series of Coffee and Side Tables that are a nod to the humble plinth - often placed in galleries but overlooked as they proudly hold the artworks placed on top. This collection of work makes the plinth the hero by using the play of colour, balance, and simplicity. The humble plinth is elevated by graphic patterns that are created collaboratively with the user.

Each piece is made-to-order in Melbourne out of powder-coated aluminium and then topped with a piece of clear glass to make the tables practical and durable.
There are 21 carefully curated colour combinations for the client to choose from. The exhibition works sold out within days but are available as a made-to-order item exclusively through Modern Times.
